Ned Smyth magnificently shown at Grounds for Sculpture

October 30, 2016

It was late July and pretty hot here in Allentown, I was packing up my car for a journey to a town called Shelter Island in New York. It was all new to me and I consider myself well traveled in the US. There was an artist by the name of Ned Smyth and Grounds for Sculpture asked if I would travel to spend 2 days with Ned and his artwork to get some new photos for the upcoming show that is actually happening right now at Grounds for Sculpture and it is just a work of Art on its own. The opening was last week and it couldn't of been any better, the weather was great and the grounds and galleries were so exquisite. Ned's work ranges from small to large sculptures, photography and paintings. He is such a talented individual and it was an honor to work with him so closely. We spent 2 days together in Shelter Island and then another day together before the opening, photographing his work. The photos are being used everywhere, billboards, ads, banners, a catalogue, and merchandise. I walked away from this project absorbing some of Ned's composition into my own life and work, this happens when I work with a master. Please for your own good take the day off and get to Grounds for Sculpture to at least see Ned Smyth's show but I think you should spend the whole day there…
